Several NCPS schools have received phone threats this afternoon. Out of an abundance of caution, all Nash County Public Schools will be in a soft lockdown. This means student movement is limited in the building and staff are on increased alert. We have consulted with local law enforcement agencies and it has been confirmed that the threats have been circulating in surrounding counties as well and appear to be a prank. While the treats are not deemed credible at this time, our schools will be in soft lockdown for the remainder of the school day. In addition to the soft lockdown, area law enforcement presence has been increased in the areas surrounding schools. We will keep you posted as updates arise. The safety of our staff and students is of the utmost importance.
2:15 pm Update: Schools dismissal will proceed at regular times and afterschool activities will continue as planned.
